A lunch spot

One of my favorite places for lunch is Frankie and Fanucci’s. http://www.fandfpizza.com/
These are their Oven Baked Clams

Veggie Panni

My favorite item on the menu is the Spicy sausage with onion pizza.
Sometimes the spicy sausage is very spicy but when the sausage has just the right amount of kick this pizza is outstanding. My other favorite is Pear and Gorgonzola Salad.
This is way they serve wine.....very cute.

No wine glass here. And of course I always end my meals with an espresso
Which theirs is always good.
And look at the oven
Truly a wood burning oven. This place has only draw back its it limited menu. Once you been there a few times you have had the complete menu.  I sure hope they expand their menu a bit more. But basically I either order the Spicy pizza or Pear salad.  If you are the area I recommend you try the place.

The Wine of the Moment

One of my favorite places to go on a Saturday afternoon is Marco's Vino and Spirits http://marcovino.com/. He holds a wine tasting every Saturday afternoon. This past Saturday we had these wines at the tasting.

I brought home this one
It was lighter than what I'm use to drinking but still full bodied with a really nice smooth finish.
I am also drinking this one at the moment

It's a half bottle. The color is a nice garnet with vanilla notes. It's dry with a slight sweet finish. I love the size of the bottle perfect for a mid week pop no stress on finishing the bottle before it goes bad. Only 2 glasses ...oh! I won't get drunk tonight........bummer! ........Just kidding

A Mother's Day Display

I wanted to change up the Easter display on the porch a little for Mother's Day. So off I went to the Dollar Store. Have you ever been to the dollar store? There are so many cool things you can get there. It's fun and all for just a dollar. Look at what I picked up.
I first took off the ribbon that was originally on the hat. Then I snipped off  a couple of the flowers and burned the edges. Do this in a well ventilated area. If you want to attempt this yourself. Cause it smells really bad and does let off some fumes. I have heard that you can tea dye them as well. I will have to try this with the left over flowers. But I really wanted them to have a slightly crunchy look to them as well.
and I wanted a antique look for the flowers. I think I achieved it.
Here is the finished look.
Off to the porch we go......

Saturday's Lunch with Friends

This past Saturday some friends and I went to a local restaurant were Their Philosophy is

Source locally whenever possible.
Use ingredients in season.
Preserve the season.
Beer is good.

The Birdsall House (http://www.birdsallhouse.net/) was a local bar for many years. Under a different name. Sadly the owner died with no one to take over. These guys overhauled the joint and now it serves local food and its super good.
We had

Calamari Salad
Looks great doesn't it. A different twist on a calamari salad with Aloi dressing and a soft boiled egg
We also had a Beet and Grain Burger

Isn't that just a great combo for a veggie burger!!
And Polenta with Spinach Mushrooms with Deep Fried Egg.

Have you ever heard of a deep fried egg. The first time I was here and saw this on the menu I had to have it just to see how you can deep fry a soft boiled egg. It sure was yummy.
This place also has a  gazillion beers to choose from. What ever your taste in beer they'll have it.

This is the only place I can have a medium cooked burger. They are not greasy and just plain tasty. And anyone that knows me, knows that I usually order my burger dead, super cooked, leather if you get my point. It's huge that I can eat a burger cooked medium. That's how good their burgers are.

Don't worry we didn't forget dessert a delicious brownie topped with cholocate ice cream
If you are in the area I highly recommend this place.

My Weekend Projects

Boy I put a lot on the plate for this weekend. Plant a whole load of stuff I got durning the week, move plants and set up my veggie garden.

Here is where I started. This side of the house is weed ridden and dark.

I got these hostas from someone giving them away.
Look at the side of the house now. Way Way better!

Planted some herbs...

Thanks to my cousin for these pots and Yep these is your chives and sage still growing.
These bushes had to be moved to make way for my veggie garden.

Now a big empty space...

Looks great doesn't it.... Lots of hard work..... Now now before you start thinking I'm some super person for getting these bushes out of the garden. A friend of mine stopped by to say hello and saw me struggling. He took over in less than 15 minutes both bushes where out of the garden. and he even dug the hole for it's new home. Boy that was a life safer...

And here is another reason why I love Craig's list. I couldn't get both bushes in the space I had reserved for them. I posted an ad one hour later bush was gone. Hip hip hooray I'm not a plant killer!!!!
I'm hoping this little spot will look awesome next spring.

Planted all the blub I picked up for my spring decoration on the porch and in the house. I'll have to wait and see. Here is a bamboo I had big plans for. Expect I couldn't get it in the spot I wanted. The spot was rittled with roots just couldn't dig a hole deep enough
Here is the suprise of the day. Pumpkin seedlings
Last year I made a Autum display with some Pumpkins. I never got to throw out the pumpkins before winter came in and they rotted  Now the question is do I move them or leave them were they are. There is not much room from them to spread out. Hmmm will have to think about that one. Let me know what you would do.
